“Eres tú” is Spain ‘s best song in Eurovision Song Contest history. This is what RTVE Digital users decided after voting in the poll published on the Eurovisión TVE Twitter profile .
The song with which Mocedades represented our country in 1973 received 1,016 votes out of 3,772. “Eres tú” , written by Juan Carlos Calderón , reached second place in the competition held in Luxembourg , finishing just four points behind the winner, “Tu te reconnaîtras”, by Anne-Marie David.
However, after the festival, the Spanish song’s success was far greater than that of the winner, with more than 70 versions in several languages and charting worldwide.
Currently, it holds the position of the highest-scoring Spanish song in the 59 Eurovision contest entries, with 125 points . It’s an added merit: that year only 17 countries awarded points, while in recent years more than 40 have done so.
