However, fans of the song know the Rat Pack<\/a> singer goes on to list another classic Italian dish: pasta fagioli<\/a> (or pasta e fagioli). \u201cWhen the stars make you drool just like a pasta fagioli, that\u2019s amore,\u201d Martin croons. The pasta and bean dish is more than just an apt rhyme for \u201cdrool,\u201d Martin is actually singing about one specific version of pasta fagioli that he loves: his mother\u2019s. <\/p>\n\n\n\n In a 2016 episode<\/a> of “Hallmark Channel Home & Family,” Deana Martin, the late Dean Martin\u2019s daughter, shared the recipe for her grandmother Angela\u2019s Pasta Fagioli. <\/p>\n\n\n\n \u201c[My father] loved it, and she taught me how to make it,\u201d she said. \u201cShe said I could not teach anybody, I couldn\u2019t tell anybody, it was a secret, and that one day after she passed away that it would bring my dad and me together. And it\u2019s true.\u201d <\/p>\n\n\n\n Deana recalls making the pasta fagioli as a Christmas present for her father about 30 years after his mother’s death.<\/p>\n\n\n\n \u201cThe look in his eye was unbelievable.
