Nirvana\u2019s \u201cSomething in the Way\u201d is enjoying a resurgence thanks to its inclusion in The Batman<\/a><\/em> soundtrack. Fans are rushing to listen to the song, which has enjoyed a staggering 1200% increase in streams on Spotify<\/a>. The track is played twice in the Warner Bros. superhero spectacular. At the beginning of the film, it accompanies an early sighting of Robert Pattinson\u2019s Bruce Wayne<\/a>. We hear the song once more towards the end, as Batman heroically fights a pack of the Riddler\u2019s loyal followers. As such, Nirvana\u2019s grunge track is the ideal accompaniment to Pattinson\u2019s alternative, eyeliner-wearing take on Batman<\/a>. Opening with the line \u201cUnderneath the bridge, tarp has sprung a leak,\u201d Kurt Cobain<\/a> narrates the dark story of the homelessness he experienced in his youth. He narrates the mundanity of his existence after being kicked out of the family home. \u201cThe animals I\u2019ve trapped have all become my pets, and I\u2019m living off of grass,\u201d he reveals. <\/a>The chorus\u2019 repeated phrase, \u201csomething in the way,\u201d signifies Cobain\u2019s emotional turmoil. Although he\u2019s seeking to find a way out of his bleak situation, he\u2019s held back by something blocking his way.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
