“Most of the Time<\/strong>” is a song written and performed by American singer-songwriter Bob Dylan<\/a>, released as the sixth track (or the first song on Side Two of the vinyl) of his 1989 album Oh Mercy<\/a><\/em>. The song was written by Dylan and produced by Daniel Lanois<\/a>. The album version of “Most of the Time” was recorded on March 12, 1989, in a mobile studio at 1305 Soniat St., New Orleans, and released on Oh Mercy<\/em> in September of that year. Two studio out-takes from the same set of recording sessions were released on The Bootleg Series Vol. 8: Tell Tale Signs: Rare and Unreleased 1989\u20132006<\/a><\/em> in 2008, and a new version recorded on March 16, 1990, was issued as a promotional single and video in 1990.<\/p>\n\n\n\n The recordings for\u00a0Oh Mercy<\/em>\u00a0were influenced by\u00a0The Neville Brothers<\/a>\u00a0album\u00a0Yellow Moon<\/a><\/em>, which was produced by Lanois and included two covers of Dylan’s songs. “Most of the Time” is a love ballad that has been described as a fan favorite.
