Independent Venue Week has been taking place throughout this week (25th – 31st January), championing grass root venues up and down the country who are at the very heart of live music. This year, the campaign has been more vital than ever as the global pandemic continues to affect music venues with the risk of facing closure due to lockdown restrictions. Music Venue Trust has been working incredibly hard along with musicians across the industry in ensuring the survival of music venues while pushing the government for supported financial funding.
IDLES new live video for song ‘Carcinogenic’
With no live music currently in place, the industry has been adapting and working creatively to support music venues. Bristol post punk stars IDLES are a prime example who’ve been supporting the music community during this period, and to highlight the importance of protecting music venues from facing permanent closure, the five-piece have shared a new video for their single ‘Carcinogenic’ – taking from their acclaimed third album Ultra Mono which is out now via Partisan Records.
Not only is the video another brilliant sounding masterpiece, the visuals shot at five of Bristol’s iconic music venues, including The Louisiana, Exchange, The Mother’s Ruin, The Old Duke and Trinity Centre sees each band member performing in each space as they showcase the very meaning of a live performance and how crucial music venues are to the industry.
