Born in Manhattan in 1979, Norah Jones is the daughter of legendary musician Ravi Shankarh. The young musical artist would break into the music scene and make a name for herself with the release of her debut album entitled Come As You As You Are that swept the Grammy Awards the year it came out. Since the release of her debut album, Norah Jones has released seven albums and twenty three singles. She has also become one of the biggest selling jazz artists of the past twenty five years as her music has crossed the genres of jazz, easy listening, blues and pop.
We close out our top 10 Norah Jones Songs list with this strikingly beautiful song entitled “Sunrise.” While nowhere near as popular as “Don’t Know Why,” we always liked this one better. It’s such a brilliantly written and well performed song. The song was released on the album entitled Feels Like Home. The album was released in 2004. It was the first single released from the album. On the charts it actually did better than “Don’t Know Why,” as “Sunrise,” became a number one hit on the US Billboard Hot Adult Alternative Airplay charts where it reached all the way up to number one.

Let’s kick it off with singer-songwriter and pianist Norah Jones who I dug from the get-go since she burst on the scene in 2002 with her chart-topping and award-winning debut album Come Away With Me. Initially focused on lounge jazz, Jones has since evolved and infused elements of blues, country, folk and pop in her music. Sunrise, co-written by Jones and Lee Alexander, is from her sophomore release Feels Like Home (see image below) from February 2002. It also appeared as a single and became her first to top Billboard’s Adult Alternative Airplay chart.
